GREETINGS
from the WEBMASTER! Mar. 28- HAPPY SPRING! Wow! My last greeting was in December and it is now March! I'm way behind on website work. Many things have taken up our time in the last few months. Among those things is buying a 2011 Chevy full-sized van and having a lift and tiedowns installed in it. Now Letty can ride in her Jazzy wheelchair right where the passenger usually sits for our around town travel. (No more transfers for that vehicle.) Unfortunately, we will not be coming to the 2012 National Rally. Time and money constraints are working against us this time. What we will be doing is visiting The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the surrounding National Forest areas in Tennessee and North Carolina. This area is filled with wildflowers in the spring (and other seasons) and the natural areas are an amazing experience. We hope everyone going to the rally will look for the wildflowers as they head south to Mississippi! |
THE APRIL, 2012 NEWSLETTER IS NOW AVAILABLE.
See link to the right >>>>>>>>>>>> The 2012 National Rally:The 2012 National Rally is planned to start on May 9, 2012 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.HERE IS THE NOTICE ABOUT THE 2012 NATIONAL RALLY:For the Registration Form CLICK HERE.The 2012 National Rally of The Handicapped Travel Club is set for May 9 thru May 12, (Wednesday thru Saturday and break camp on Sunday) , at the Hollywood Casino and RV Resort in Bay Saint Louis, MS.We have made arrangements to reserve RV sites around the outdoor pavilion and there are handicapped rooms available in the casino hotel. At the Rally at Vista Royale in Bancroft WI., we voted on the time and place of the rally contingent upon a visit to evaluate the site. Barb and I spent 2 nights at the facility and we were very much impressed. After some negotiating with the Hollywood Casino we have come to an agreement. Per our directive from the last Annual Business Meeting the Executive Board voted on the Casino contract and we have signed it, and all is in place for the upcoming event. The wagon-masters for this rally are Ronald McClain and C.H. Miller. A rally charge of $35.00 must be sent to wagon-master Ronald McClain at 145 Stafford Road Wales MA 48152-1174 prior to the rally (the sooner the better so we can get an accurate count). If you send in the Rally Fee and then you aren't able to attend the club will refund your $35.00 fee. The Casino RV Resort and Hotel has agreed to hold the rooms and RV sites in reserve for our use until 4/14/12. After that date any unreserved sites or rooms will be placed back in their general inventory and you will take your chances on being able to get the reservation at the agreed upon price and location. All handicapped rooms have either roll-in shower or bathtub with hand rails. All RV sites are paved, wide concrete pads and drives, and all roads are paved. The RV sites and the Hotel rooms are available to be reserved starting now and up to the time of the Rally 5/9/12 thru 5/12/12. However, after April 14, 2012, there is no guarantee that the rates and availability will hold. The Hotel rates are $89.00 per night for Sunday - Thursday and $99.00 per night for Friday and Saturday, plus taxes. The RV site rate is $35.00 per night plus taxes, (they honor Good Sam discount). Make your reservations at 1-800 946-2442 and mention Handicapped Travel Club code HAN0507. The website for the Hollywood Casino is: www.hollywoodcasinobsl.com. Contact the Casino/Hotel to make your arrangements for the RV Park and Hotel and send your rally fee to wagon-master Ronald McClain prior to the Rally. The cancellation policy for RV and Hotel is: 72 hours in advance for a full refund, within 72 hours one night's stay, and any no show will be charged one night's stay with all remaining nights cancelled. The early departure fee is 50% of one night's stay plus all taxes. We have the luxury this year of having two wagon-masters. Ron is doing the advanced planning for the décor, and C.H. is planning games and such and I'm helping them both. See ya in the spring. Bill Gratzke The 2011 National Rally: The 2011 National Rally of the Handicapped Travel Club in Bancroft, WI Was a great success! Our special thanks to wagonmasters Mike & Kelly Hodge.(More photos will follow shortly.)
